Opening in Modern Greek at University of Florida The CES is a multi-disciplinary area studies center focused on modern Europe broadly defined funded in part by the US Department of Education. The Center for Greek Studies offers courses in the Modern Greek language from beginning to advanced levels. The person taking this position should be prepared to teach both introductory level language classes and courses on contemporary Modern Greek authors. He/she should also be able to offer at least one course in translation on a Modern Greek subject. An interest in the Greek-American experience and the development of a course on this topic would be an additional asset for this position. The successful candidate will also demonstrate, an interest in Modern Greek subjects beyond literature and the the desire to participate fully in the activities of the CES. Candidates must have an advanced degree in Modern Greek and in a relevant discipline in hand or nearly so, and native or near native speaker's skills in Modern Greek. The salary range is at the $28,000 to $36,000 level. Since we would like the position filled by August 8, 2003, time is of great importance.
